Wood Column Warranty

Somerset Door and Column Company warrants it's wood columns will be free of manufacturing defects, joint separation and rotting for a period of one year after purchase when used with aluminum or fiberglass plinths, providing columns are:

  • Protected on the jobsite and not exposed to extreme weather conditions prior to installation

  • Coated with asphaltum on the interior of the shaft at least three feet up from the bottom

  • Installed, sealed painted and ventilated in accordance with SDC installation instructions

Should replacement be necessary under warranty, the sole remedy will be limited to furnishing new shafts, caps, bases, and/or plinths to replace any defective component. Field assembled joints, on re-assembly of split columns, are not warranteed. In addition, SDC does not warrant merchantability nor does it warrant that the products covered by the warranty are expressly suited for any particular purpose.

StaveCast™ Warranties

Somerset Door and Column Company guarantees its products for the "lifetime" of ownership. Our warranty insures that products purchased from Somerset Door and Column Company are not defective in material and/or workmanship. The "Lifetime Limited Warranty" is effective so long as the original purchaser owns the structure to which the column was originally and properly installed according to enclosed instructions.

Somerset Door and Column Company will be solely responsible for determining whether to repair or replace its products that have not met performance standards due to material and/or workmanship deficiencies. Somerset Door and Column Company "Lifetime Limited Warranty" will cover up to the original cost of the product in question.

Somerset Door and Column Company "Lifetime Limited Warranty" does not cover damages resulting from the replacement of a substandard product. The "Lifetime Limited Warranty" will be in effect so long as the customer uses Somerset Door and Column Company products in a manner consistent with design capacities of the item.

One-Year Limited Door Warranty

Somerset Door and Column Company warrants to the first retail purchaser the product, merchandise described in the proposal/invoice against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the original invoice date.

Exclusions and Limitations:

  • Any door, door unit or product not recieved, stored, finished or installled in full compliance with the recommendations set forth in the installation and finishing guide. SDC reserves the right to make changes to these at any time.

  • Any door over 3'-6" in width and 8'-0" in height.

  • Any door with a 1/4" or less warp (bow). Warp (bow) is any distortion in the door itself and does not refer to the door in relation to the frame (jamb) in which it is hung. Warp is measured by placing a straight edge on the concave face (not to exceed a 3'-0" x 7'-0" span). This is as specified in Architectural Woodworking Institute (AWI) Section 1400.

  • Dimensional changes as specified in AWI Section 100.

  • Products not maintained and cared for.

  • Product misuse or installed in an abnormal manner (Damage caused during handling and installation).

  • Any door or door unit installed without adequate overhang to protect the products from weather conditions. Over hangs typically extend 1/2 the elevation of the door unit.

  • Products machined, cut or trimmed in a manner that will damage the structural design or cause improper fit.

  • Products specified by others than SDC to have design or structural flaws.

  • Damage caused by dark finishes. Damage caused by storm panels, storm doors or sunscreens without adequate ventilation.

  • Color and grain variation with any hardwoods (will not be considered a defect).

  • Fire rated doors.

  • Damage caused by sealers, stains or finish products.

  • Any shortages not immediately reported.

Remedies

Should any defect(s) be discovered within the warranty period, the product may be returned tjo SDC, freight prepaid, only after written authorization from SDC has be obtained. SDC may elect to inspect the product(s), may have a representative inspect the product(s) or require photographs of the product(s). SDC will repain, replace, or refund the price originally recieved for the defective product(s). Refinishing, removing, installling, transportation or any incidental charges will not be covered. As SDC, in its sole discretion, may elect. In no event will SDC be responsible for any amount in excess of the amount originally paid to SDC for the product/merchandise. The aforementioned warranty and remadies are exclusive and in liew of all others, whether written, expressed or implied. SDC specifically disclaims any and all impllied warranties of merchantability and finess for a particular purpose. You may have remedies under state law. SDC is not responsible for incidental or consequential damages resulting from breech of warranty. SDC is not responsible under any legal theory for lost profits, loss of use or counsel fees/legal expenses.
